Core Exercises for MMA Fighters

1129313_karate_4When they hear about MMA fighters, some people who aren’t involved with the sport think it’s all kicking and punching and grappling. Much of what MMA fighters do, though, are exercises to strengthen their core, and they can do that with a stability ball.

The core is the center of power, and if you don’t have a strong core you’ll have a lot of trouble staying strong, no matter how much you work on your arms and legs, or how good your cardio is, or how fast your reflexes are. Using a stability ball is the best way to perform core exercises. When you use an unstable surface such as a ball for your core MMA exercises it makes you work harder. Not only do you have to do the exercise, but you also have to keep your stability. That makes it much more challenging, and you’ll get stronger faster.

Your ‘six-pack’ will be improved, but so will the muscles on your sides and in your back, because your core is more than just your abdomen. If you plan on getting involved with the MMA, the instructors at MMA Richmond can help you get started with these kinds of exercises.
